Basic color theory
Color Theory (Photography Website Webinar)
This is a real-world webinar (a seminar held online so that it is available to a wider variety of participants) created for professional photographers. Color theory is used in many professions other than careers that specifically focus on fine arts. What connections do you see about where color is used?
The Science of Light and Color with Bill Nye
Without light, we would not have color! (Or would we?) The science behind our ability to perceive and manipulate color will help broaden your understanding of why color works.
Color Theory: Hue and Saturation with Scott Naismith
Of course, in the Art Room you will be using color in ways specific to fine artists. Scott Naismith helps wrap up this Color Theory introduction with a discussion and demonstration about how colors can work together to support, neutralize, and highlight other colors ~ in order to give you an idea of how you might use color and color theory in your art.

Basic Color Schemes
This website is the main source of information for the packet used in class for Color Schemes notes. It has a great interactive color wheel, descriptions of color schemes, and some additional information about ways to use/categorize/manipulate color.
Sessions - Color Theory: Color Wheel
Color schemes are used in most professions that deal with color, including graphic design. This basic overview of various color schemes includes simple descriptions, visual examples of the "shape" of color schemes, and applied color schemes in various versions of the same design. It is a great example of how color schemes can drastically alter the "feel" or mood of a piece of design/art. [Note: This video uses the term "tertiary" colors instead of "intermediate" colors. We will ALWAYS use the term "intermediate" when discussing Color Theory!]
Color Theory: Color Schemes in Movie (and Game) Posters
Although this video does not have any audio, it shows some great examples of color schemes used in modern movie and game advertisements. The main thing to focus on in this video is the poster examples and associated color schemes!
